Our Story
Founded on a simple premise
That better data leads to better buildings and better buildings lead to better lives.
Building Insights Together began as a small working group of researchers and practitioners who kept running into the same problem: governments and developers wanted to build more sustainably, but the evidence they needed to act with confidence was scattered, inconsistent, or locked away in academic journals no one outside a university would read.
So we set out to close that gap — translating rigorous research into practical tools that planning departments, contractors, and community boards could actually use. What started as a handful of pilot studies on energy performance has grown into a standing research and advisory practice working across the built environment, from retrofit policy to climate-resilient infrastructure.
We’re still the same organization at heart: a group that believes the built environment is one of the most powerful levers we have for social and environmental change — and that it deserves the same evidentiary rigor as public health or economic policy.

Grounded in credible data and internationally recognised methods.
We declare our methods before we start and retain the underlying data afterwards, so any finding we publish can be checked by someone who did not produce it.
